Not the incense, backflow incense seems to have an oil in it which when inhaled got into my throat and it’s been 3 days and I still can taste it. Also the small tin incense holder that you place the incense on that goes on top of the item was ruined looks like it was old and stampled on. Called Amazon customer service they took care of the problem on that. Thank you. Would never use their free incense again ever. Definitely horrible my family agrees. Really no smell. It had a horrible smell and it just stuck in your throat for days. Plastic waterfall not ceramic. And,keep in mind unit is very small 6.5 inches & must be cleaned after every use. You will see black residue after 1 inscense burn & leaves a terrible odor on item & in air.

The scents this product provides aren’t very strong, and they don’t leave a burning smell like other backflow cones. It’ll come with some instructions and all the items (other than a lighter) in order to properly and safely use it. The cones do burn rather fast, maybe 5-10 minutes, but the scent lingers for a while – I’d say about hour, in my experience.

When I first saw this product, I questioned whether it would even work. It actually does – sorta. The smoke does flow downward, but how well it follows the waterfall path is a function of the air around the holder. I had been advised that they were sensitive to air currents, so I turned off the fan I had running. Even so, the smoke was much thinner than the photos in the ad and almost NEVER made it all the way to the bottom pool. I finally realized that my central A/C was on and even though I don’t feel it, it must be making some air movement. I’m going to try turning its back to the apparent airflow direction tomorrow and see if that helps. Obviously, I can’t turn the A/C off in an Indiana summer so I’m hoping that makes it work a little better.
More disappointing than how it functioned was the instructions. It came with one little (4″x3″) sheet of instructions. The font was necessarily small and hard to read. It gave a pretty good description of how to burn incense cones but said nothing about how to set the thing up. In addition to a bag of cones, I found a round felt, slightly bigger in diameter than the base of the ceramic, a pair of tweezers, a metal funnel, and some small sticks I assumed to be incense sticks. Other than a parts list on the outside of the box, nothing was said about what to do with these and the funnel wasn’t even among the items on the parts list. The uses were pretty obvious for the felt and the funnel, but still, some confirmation would have been nice. I had to use a flashlight to find out where the incense sticks were to go. Only when I came to Amazon to write this review did I see in the photographs that I was correct on use of the felt, funnel and of placement of the incense sticks. I also found cleaning instructions on the Amazon page. Cleaning wasn’t even mentioned in the instructions with the item.
Finally, I found no chart telling me which color cone was what scent. I burned a blue one, and really didn’t get much of a scent.
Update. Changing position helped slightly, but all in all, a disappointing purchase.

Wow!! It is so magical to watch. Play background music like water running, and just listen and watch the smoke does its magic. You feel so tranquil. The only negative is the incense smell. It has no fragrance, it smells of smoke. My advice is to buy the insense separately. I purchased the one pictured in my review. Definitely has a nicer scent, comes in four fragrance.

Matched the pictures. Looks very pretty and flows as expected. The cones that came with it all smell the same even though they were different colors. Very much just smelled of plain wood smoke (personally i like it but its very in your face about it). They last about five to ten minutes. Mine did have the stick holder (someone else mentioned they didnt have it but its built into the bottom of the pond). All in all perfect for a gift, but get other sticks or cones to go with it.

Unique design I bought for a co-worker. Wasn’t sure it would be a hit, but turns out it was perfect. In fact it was so popular because of the unique design that I had several people ask me where did I find it. The smoke that emits is incredible. Just be sure to clean it out after each use. The incense can be messy once burned, but the secret is to try and turn it completely upside down so that the hole doesn’t get/ stay clogged. If it spills its messy. I love the variety in the incense that come with it. I actually bought (2), and I opted to buy the newly used/opened pkg and saved $7 each. The box was damaged but it’s well bubble-wrapped, and there was no damage to the product at all. I give it 5-stars. Perfect for home & office use.
