Picked this up alongside my first set of incense, i was surprised how small it is. It seems to hold the incense alright, though the stick is long enough to lean beyond the burner and generally causing a mess. I used it several times today but I probably won’t use it again. I’d look for something a little bigger instead.

You CANNOT have ANY air circulation when using if you want the smoke to “fall”.
I’ve had experience with these type of burners before, and while they look cool, they are difficult to make work properly. The better ones will have a tube the smoke travels though first before falling because then the smoke won’t be disturbed right away. The type like this, where there’s no tube, means at the slightest breeze the smoke will be disturbed and won’t “fall” properly, and it can take a few seconds for it to right itself, if it ever does.
On the good side, it is a nice sculpt, and comes with a flexible PLASTIC mat, much better at preventing staining and scent deposits than felt mats.
For the price, this is pretty good, just beware the air circulation (no fans or a.c. on) if you want the waterfall effect to work properly.

Cute little incense burner that is for the reverse flow cones, as well as your traditional incense sticks. I liked that it came with a rubber mat, however my incense sticks (which are a pretty standard size) will drop ash beyond the mat when first lit, so you’ll need to be careful where you place this so there isn’t an issue with burning your surface it is on.

I was quite surprised by how small this is because the photos on the item page certainly make it look much larger than it is. It came with a “rubber” coaster to put the burner on top of to help protect surfaces. Drawback there is that it didn’t fit perfectly in the box so it has some edges that don’t want to settle down just yet. Hopefully as it is lying in position that will straighten out and lie flat. It’s not too awful, and if it doesn’t flatten out on its own, then I will put it under a heavy book or books for a little while and that should take care of the bend. I still like the look of the burner, but it would look much better to me if it was larger. The stick incense I have does not stand up straight. Maybe I can make a sort of shim and see if that helps. As it is right now, the ashes from the sticks burning would definitely fall onto whatever surface the burner is sitting on. I think this could have been better designed. I tried some back flow cones to see how the smoke “flows”. The smoke took a little while to get rolling. Not sure if it was the cones I used or the burner, but the cone was almost burned up before the smoke finally filled up the “pool” and was flowing down the burner properly. I am going to get some different cones so I can find out which has the issue. Hope this helps! Be Well

Looks great, and works exactly as it is supposed to. you can use the backflow cones, or incense sticks with this burner.
The backflow incense make a great smoke effect, and of course smell good at the same time. They do burn up a little quicker than the solid cones, but look so much cooler. This thing is a great size, and great design, with more available. great product, great price. Highly recommended.

I already have a couple of these sitting in my music studio but I still didn’t have a one that resembled the Mountain King. This one goes great with the others. The holder is made of resin and the detail on this, while not sharply defined, blends in nicely with the general scenario. It looks great on the shelf. Once the incense is lit it gives it the effect of a creeping dawn in the woods. The smoke roles down and collects at the bottom giving it an ethereal effect. It’s perfect for when you’re just sitting around puffing your magic dragons while listening to some early King Crimson. I was satisfied with my order. It looks good, performs as it should, and fits nicely into the motif of my studio. The price point is of fair market value and it adds to the overall atmosphere. I would suggest this for anyone who is into stuff like this whether you’re a guitar player, a role game player, or just a stoner.

This little guy is adorable. I appreciate that it’s decorative and much more compact than the boat/tray styles. The little silicone mat is good for keeping things safe and corralling most of the stray ash. Unfortunately, the top cone holder and the little bottom stick holder tube are both uneven, so incense ash is a pretty big problem. The cone holder is really not level and so cones (or piñon bricks like in my photos) sit at a steep angle and drop ash sideways. The stick holder tube similarly tilts incense sticks at an awkward angle. It’s clear that the issue is poor construction instead of a misguided design choice because you can see where the metal fittings don’t sit perfectly in their little mountain homes. They appear to be glued in or something because I can’t pry them out to fix them. That said, I still think this little incense holder is cute and will continue to use it occasionally when I’m willing to deal with the mess.
